Laguna Beach Living Turns Five

5 years ago I launched a side blog that changed my life.

At the time I was working as Editorial Director of a national wellness magazine, based in Laguna Beach.

I knew I liked the town (who wouldn’t?), but I didn’t know exactly HOW much I was going to fall in love with it.

The plan was to highlight the local people and businesses that made Laguna so iconic; showcasing them in a cool way, digitally — something with low overhead and high reward.

I quickly realized this was my PASSION.

I had been a journalist for over a decade and had traveled all over the world writing stories about international music festivals, celebrities, and deep dives into all sorts of research… but there was something about the local aspect of this type of journalism that got me.

There was something about Laguna that stole my heart.

I love interviewing local business owners. I love meeting inspiring people. I love touring their homes. Attending their events.

I love running on the beach and hosting Hike Clubs and bringing my dogs everywhere they are allowed (and not allowed, too).

I love being the go-to person that people ask when they want to know where to eat, watch the sunset, or post up with a laptop all day.

I love the friends I’ve made. The adventures I’ve been on. The love I’ve found.

I will be grateful for this small town of 23,000 people for the rest of my life.

In the past 5 years Laguna Beach Living has published 350 articles, has gained a monthly reach of over 1.1 million people across our platforms, and has become an integral part of the community by creating buzz surrounding small businesses — getting them seen by locals and tourists alike.

I am helping them, and they are helping me live my dream job.

Five years in, it is one of my life’s proudest accomplishments that Laguna Beach Living has inspired women from all over the country to create hyperlocal city publications through the City Living Network(which I created when I realized this “dream job” of mine was other people’s as well)!

Our City Living Network Editors get a ready-to-go digital business, a tried-and-true game plan, comprehensive training, plug-and-play kits, and a supportive network that ensures you have all the support you need to provide the same valuable publication for your own town.
