Gratitude and Actually Liking Your Life

Morning Gratitude Practice for Entrepreneurs | City Living Network | Lindsay DeLong and Corbin Thomas

Lately I’ve been doing a gratitude practice in the mornings.

I wake up early, nuzzle my face in some dog bellies (I have two rescue pups), and then spend a minute speed-thinking of all the things I’m grateful for.

Healthy teeth are currently at the top of my list (I recently had to get a root canal and tooth aches are NOT FUN). Also high on the list are the dogs (duh), my job, and the flexibility of my life.

I’m not tied to a desk job, I don’t have a boss I’m making richer, and, if I want, I can spend a random Monday hosting a very elaborate and fancy dog picnic at my house and call it work (this actually happened last week for a Laguna Beach Living article and yes, it was as fun as you can imagine).

I say this not to toot my own horn, but because my whole mission in life is not to live a life I don’t actually like. Life is too short for that. As a 7-year-cancer survivor this tidbit of life advice has been my main takeaway post-cancer.

If we don’t like our jobs, our boss, our mornings… WE CAN CHANGE THEM.

We can learn new skills on the Internet. YouTube. TikTok. Online Courses.

We can surround ourselves with inspiring, happy, successful people — a Network if you will. ;)

And eventually, that mindset, that positivity, that motivation will start to rub off on you.

I feel lucky to have created a job that I love. I love highlighting Laguna Beach because I love my town.

I also love teaching women how to make careers of highlighting their towns — creating something that brings your community together, supports local businesses, and gives you the freedom to live life on your own terms.

At the City Living Network we’re not just dreaming about change — we’re actually making it happen… in a month.

It’s accountability. It’s a network. It’s the flexibility to live the life you want… and it’s fun.

Gratitude doesn’t need to be the big fancy house, the expensive car, the perfect life. Gratitude is being thankful for what’s in front of you right now. Gratitude is the power to make a change when something isn’t serving you. Gratitude is access to tools you can use to make your life better. Opportunities that can change your life.

Gratitude is also teeth that don’t hurt and dogs that snuggle.

From the founders of Laguna Beach Living, the City Living Network is an ALL-IN-ONE web design agency that builds hyperlocal digital publications from the ground up, leaving you with the knowledge on how to launch, maintain, and monetize a successful city blog... in just 30 days.
