Las Vegas Parents Club’s One-Year Anniversary Party
On Saturday I flew to Vegas for 3 hours.
Angela, Editor-in-Chief of City Living Network’s 5th publication, Las Vegas Parents Club, hosted her One Year Anniversary Party and I had to go support, Taylor Swift Superbowl style!
Her husband pulled me aside at the party and told me how Angela and I have had this crazy cosmic connection that has lasted years, countries, and now careers — and it is so true.
We met in Japan 15 years ago, (hence the reason I’ve always called her Japangela (genius, I know). We became Facebook friends (as one does when they randomly find the only other American girl at a house party in Toyohashi), and DM’ed a few times before we fell out of touch.
A few years later I was out to dinner with friends in Long Beach and saw her sitting on the patio across the restaurant. I went up to her and just like that — she was suddenly part of the Long Beach crew and we were fast friends.
She ended up moving to San Francisco a few years later for a job in tech, and then became a mom and moved to Las Vegas as she climbed the corporate tech ladder. (She’s VERY smart.)
When she reached out a little over a year ago with the idea of creating a City Living Network city publication in Vegas — for parents — I loved the idea.
We worked together to create the branding and site and I built her a 9-module customized course to teach her the odds and ends of running a successful digital publication. We launched with the cutest influencer picnic and she was officially up and running!
In the past year Japangela has grown Las Vegas Parents Club to be a valuable and much-needed asset for the Las Vegas community. She posts itineraries for families, makes amazing reels, and highlights small businesses which has enriched so many people’s lives — fostering connections, building a network, spotlighting locals, and throwing events.
As a new person in town when she started the site, she has since positioned herself as an authority figure — someone who is both a connector and community builder.
Throwing this One Year Anniversary Party was a way for her to say thank you to everyone she’s met in the past year — collabs, brands, and lifelong friends.
I’m so proud of her and our cosmic connection that’s landed and thrived in Vegas. (Just like Taylor.)
